Are you looking for the ultimate vacation—going to summer school in Italy? You can enroll in a wide range of courses that can include the study of the language, if that's your choice. Some of the most popular language schools in Italy will make all the arrangements for you to stay in a home, including choices about size of room, food service, etc. The accommodations may range from modest to spectacular, according to what you need.

On the other hand, you can also rent an apartment of your own choice and that includes student apartments, where you'll live with other foreign students, and private studio apartments within five minutes of the school. Living with a group of young students coming from all over the world is a wonderful experience and will help you enjoy your stay in Italy.

If you want to become conversant in Italian, you would be well advised to either stay in an Italian home or live where you can interact with native speakers. Many companies can provide that, and some of them offer host family with half board and host family bed and breakfast accommodations: this is really a great chance to live just as a real Italian and to improve your language skills faster!

You can also go to summer school in Florence, for example, where the classes are graded from beginner to super intensive. There are even classes for older people that are separate from those for college-age students, for example. If you choose to learn Italian in Florence, you have many choices. Checking out some Italian language schools' websites may help you find the ideal solution according to your needs.

On the other hand, many companies are offering study travel in Italy. Again, what an extraordinary choice for vacationing! Not only will you get to visit ancient sites and witness first-hand the parts of the world where the Renaissance began, you will accrue college credits if you wish or just acquire knowledge and information that you will carry with you for a lifetime. Because the culture of Italy is so unique, your exposure to it will influence the way you live out the rest of your life. Quality of life is inevitably enhanced by a deeper understanding of the history of ideas, art, and culture.

Minnesota State University also offers a study tour of Italy every year for its students. The 2008 program, for example, included a walking tour of Rome, a tour of the Vatican museums as well as opportunities for independent exploration. In Naples, students made a guided excursion to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. In Sorrento, on the other hand, students had a free day but could opt for an excursion to Capri. This travel tour offers college credit and is an excellent introduction to Italian culture and language. Language courses in Italian are offered at the University to extend students' understanding of the culture of Italy.

No matter how you choose to study abroad, your study of Italian and the culture of Italy will be an unforgettable experience.
